object-head portrait commission
“I am not chained to this reality, and neither, dear dreamer, are you”
Object-Head Portrait commissions are your invitation to be reimagined, not as you are seen, but as who you are. We’ll work together to transform you into your very own object-head character, guided by personal stories, symbolism and the details that make you, you.
Through a ‘get to know you’ conversation, I’ll pull fragments from your inner world and turn your head into the perfect object that best represents you. The result is a one-of-a-kind artwork that exists nowhere else, created slowly and intentionally, as part of my ongoing object-head universe.
Commissions open once a year in May for 6 months and availability is limited to two intakes per month from May-November and works on a first in, first served basis. If you would like to commission your very own object-head portrait, join the waitlist. Joining simply means you’ll be the first to know when commissions are officially open. These commissions are for those who feel a pull toward symbolism, storytelling and meaningful details. They’re for art collectors who value intention over perfection, and who want to own a piece that feels deeply personal, something made with them, not just for them.
They’re also for kindred spirits drawn to magic and inner worlds that don’t quite fit into words. For those who feel seen by surreal imagery, and who find comfort in art that holds curiosity, imagination and something unique.
These portraits can be a meaningful gift for a loved one, or as a way of honouring your own story. Whether you come with a clear vision or a willingness to be surprised, these commissions are for anyone open to being reimagined in a whole new way.

Once your commission is confirmed, we’ll have a short, thoughtful chat so I can get to know you (your personality, memories, and the atmosphere you’re drawn to).
You may choose an object yourself, or surrender to the process and let it be a surprise. I’ll choose one that I think best suits your personality and you’ll find out what I chose once the painting is done.
You’ll then send through a reference photo of yourself wearing your chosen outfit, which I’ll use as the foundation for creating your portrait and from there, I’ll bring your object-head character to life.

I charged $350 AUD per commission. To secure your place, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required once your commission is confirmed and before I begin painting. The remaining 50% is due once the artwork is finished.
-
When your painting is complete, it will be carefully packaged and shipped to you free of charge, both within Australia and internationally, a small way of honouring the care and trust involved in creating something so personal and unique.
-
To keep it simple, I offer one size which is 8 × 10 inches / 20.5 x 25.5 cm.

The background will be painted with a one colour wash so the focus remains on you as your object-head character. These are close-up portraits painted from the hips up, not full scenes. Please see the polaroid camera character above as a sample.
-
Once your commission is confirmed and your 50% non-refundable deposit has been received I will typically have your painting complete and in the post within 7-14 days. Should I require more time than this, I will confirm this with you via email.

Each commission is created slowly and intuitively, based on our conversation and my artistic interpretation, rather than as a strict likeness or custom design process. Because of this, I don’t offer full repaints or redesigns.
If something feels slightly off, I’m happy to consider small, reasonable adjustments where possible, but please keep in mind that watercolour is a transparent medium, and is therefore quite difficult to change after the fact.
My intention is always to create a piece you feel connected to, while still honouring the integrity of the artwork and the way it was meant to unfold.
Clear communication before I begin is the best way to ensure the final piece feels right, which is why our initial conversation is such an important part of the process.
If you’re choosing the option where I pick the object and it’s a surprise for you, by doing this, you are giving me creative control and trusting that I’ll make the right choice. If you’re worried about this, I recommend choosing the object before I begin painting.
Please keep an open mind and remember that these are creative commissions, and a fun and quirky way to see yourself reimagined as a character, rather than an exact replica.
