The Story Behind the Art

Since I started painting, I’ve found myself, more often than not, removing the subject’s head completely or replacing my subject’s head with an object, and this painting is no different. I’ve always felt like I have a foothold between two worlds: the one I live in, and the one I carry inside my imagination and for this painting, I wanted to create that feeling of being between two worlds, a moment before everything changes, where you’re standing on the precipice of a new adventure and by stepping through this portal into an entirely different world, full of possibility, you are choosing the unknown over the comfort of what’s familiar and safe. This painting is about having courage when faced with uncertainty and being brave enough to take that leap.
