The Meaning Behind the Art

I’ve always felt as though I exist between two worlds: the one I physically inhabit, and the one that lives inside my imagination. With this painting, I wanted to capture that in-between feeling… the suspended moment before everything changes. A threshold between what is known and what is possible.

Standing before this portal, stepping into an entirely unfamiliar world, becomes a choice: to leave behind the comfort of what is safe and familiar in exchange for wonder, possibility, and the unknown. It is an act of courage - choosing uncertainty, even when you cannot yet see what waits on the other side.

As I was developing the idea for this painting, I found out I was being made redundant from my part-time job. At first, the news felt disappointing, but over time I began to see it differently. I’ve always believed that even the moments that seem unfortunate can redirect us toward something greater… that sometimes the universe closes one door because it’s trying to lead you somewhere you were too afraid to walk toward on your own. It’s funny how art imitates life.
